What occurred in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th 2012 involved a horrific tragedy that resulted in the deaths of 20 innocent kids and 7 adults. The tragedy has sparked several discussions such as more security in schools, banning assault weapons, and developing better mental health funding for those that need it. Each issue are very important topics that will need to be addressed going forward, but the fact still remains that we will never fully understand why random mass killings occur. I won’t get into details about the shooter or his lifestyle because describing his personality and characteristics only creates an image for the next potential shooter.
